Comedy at the Cockpit: The Line Up

Last week we announced our line up for Scripts & Giggles at the Cockpit and now that rehearsals are well underway we wanted to let you know a little bit more about it.

Our first play, Breaking News is a hilarious satire on our modern media obsession and the intrusion of our ‘online presence’ into EVERY aspect of day-to-day life – except this isn’t a trivial reality show, this is the end of the world. Australian playwright Jeff Nolan has had plays performed at the Noosa Theatre, Brisbane, Darlinghurst Theatre, Sydney and in London at Theatre 503 and at the Old Red Lion and Riverside Studios as part of the Off-Cut Festival.

Next up is the beautifully observed A Feast For Franz, this darkly comic piece depicts a married couple eating their way through the contents of their thawed-out fridge while they chew the fat of their lives, kids and careers; but Franz isn’t quite telling Mira everything. This is Leah Cowan’s first play so we’re very excited to show it to you and be there at the start of what we know will be a fantastic writing career.

But back to the Cockpit, our second half sees our regular compere Tom Rosenthal being let loose to bring you a preview of his brilliant Edinburgh Festival show благодаря. Behind the esoteric title lies Tom’s trademark self-effacing witticisms and tales of Bulgaria, filming for TV and, most importantly, Danny Dyer. We can’t wait to see Tom in full flight.

So there you have it, a wonderful night of drama and comedy and comedy-drama. A wonderful night of crama.

Coming up on the blog we’ll be chatting to Leah, Jeff and Tom, but in the meantime join the Facebook event, tell your friends and don’t miss out on the amazing £6 early bird offer – tickets selling fast!
