What’s New | 3 – 9 December

Our weekly round up of what’s going on in the world of new writing.

Special mention to Southwark Playhouse this week as Wednesday sees the opening of the final show in their current venue. As of January they’re moving to a warehouse in Southwark, which means more seating capacity for the main house and studio, rehearsal space and a café/bar – very exciting!  Go see Feathers in the Snow in honour of this momentous move.

An epic tale of magic and migration spanning over five hundred years. More info

Mydidae by Jack Thorne @ Soho Theatre – From Wednesday 5th
DryWrite present this story of intimacy, fragility and the darker side of love. More info

In the Republic of Happiness by Martin Crimp @ Royal Court – From Thursday 6th
A family Christmas is interrupted by an unexpected guest in this violent satire. More info

ONE NIGHT ONLY: Gatekeepers: Theatre @ Freeword Centre – Saturday 8th
Spread the Word present a panel discussion about what new writing means today and how it is treated by theatres, chaired by playwright Fin Kennedy. The panel includes Christopher Campbell (Royal Court), Sarah Dickenson (Soho Theatre) and Will Mortimer (Hampstead Theatre). More info

ONE NIGHT ONLY: Flawless by Tahmid Chowdhury @ Tristan Bates Theatre – Saturday 8th
A new play as part of TBT’s Sparks programme. More info
